DATA COLLECTION
All of the data was collected from the CIA's World Factbook, a reference resource produced each year between 1962 and 2026 with almanac-style information about the countries of the world.
LAYOUT/GRID
This is the rough layout that I created for this large poster. Since the project features almost 30 data visualizations, it was imperative to keep spacing in mind as well as maintaining a visual hierarchy and narrative for the viewer as they digest the information. I decided to split my content into two main categories and place my larger maps in the center. The timeline went on the bottom.
STYLE GUIDE
Wishing to incorporate elements of Ethiopia's culture and identity, I referenced the Ethiopian flag and picked shades of dark blue and yellow from the inner star to be used in the color palette of the overall poster. I paired this with a clean sans-serif and 4 layers of typographic hierarchy to round out the style guide.
